Thanks to the Posse Comitatus Act of 1875, a Sheriff is allowed to give certain powers, position and responsibility to citizens to act as Non-Commissioned Officers. (Similar to Security Guards) The purpose is not to add additional untrained Deputies. But rather to to a few citizens who are excited to serve their community and are willing to Volunteer time to help with some of Law Enforcements less serious tasks as an auxiliary force. Such as event security, traffic control, inventory, records keeping, These Posse members may assist with peace keeping but not law enforcement. Such as traffic control, perimeter control and keeping logs. Mostly you will see our Posse members at festivals and events.
