Requesting Sunshine Records
Sunshine Law
Missouri’s Sunshine Law is the embodiment of Missouri’s commitment to openness in government. Chapter 610 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri is the foundation of what has become known as Missouri’s Sunshine Law.
This page is a resource to help Missourians understand the Missouri Sunshine Law and its implications for public and quasi-public governmental bodies, members of those bodies, those that conduct business with a public governmental body, and private citizens.
Requesting Records via Sunshine Law
Please complete the section below and submit it to the SCSO. Your records may take up to 30 days, depending on their availability.
Cost of Records
The current cost of records is $0.50 per page. This is to cover the cost of ink, paper, labor and investigative services to locate and prepare your documents. Shipping and Handling may cost extra. You may deliver payment directly to staff, or ship the payment to staff. Payment must be exact. Victims do not pay for reports.
Ongoing Investigations
The Shannon County Sheriff's Office will NOT provide information to anyone who is not a investigator in the case, until the case is completed. The only exception is victims who need specific documentation for victim services.
You may collect the documents in the lobby of SCSO
We will deliver all documents to the requester directly hand to hand. If we must mail them to you, we will pre-package the documents and enter the dimensions and weight into the shipping website, and then add the total cost of delivery to the amount due.

Please include case numbers, dates, legal first middle and last names, dates of birth, social security numbers, addresses, phone numbers, emails, types of crimes involved, investigating Deputy names or badge numbers. Anything that will help us locate the specific information you requested.

*Please refrain from giving us a full recap of the incident. We are only looking for software search words.
